Production Notes : In '84, Renny Harlin made a film for a little over a million dollars with American actors that was shot in English that was shown in Finland A little action film called "Born American".
It had three incarnations. First, Harlin decided to make it with Chuck Norris, who was an action star at that point.
Harlin sent it to Chuck Norris and, miraculously, he agreed to do the film if Harlin forwarded some money to him.
Harlin sent him a check for a few hundred thousand dollars, using everything that we or our relatives had ever made, and Harlin was able to start advertising the movie and trying to get the rest of the financing.
At that point, the movie was called "Wild Force".
Everything fell apart, eventually our financing completely fell apart and Harlin was never able to make that film.
Harlin embarked on a new film immediately after that which was kind-of a re-worked version of that script and that was called "Arctic Heat".
That was made, and when it was finished, the American distributors decided that it should be called "Born American" came out in '85.

Production Notes :FIFTY/FIFTY was first announced as a vehicle for Sylvester Stallone and Eddie Murphy.
Cannon Films got hold of the rights in the late 80s and pitched it in the trades as the first teaming of two of their in-house action stars - Chuck Norris and Michael Dudikoff. Screenwriter Dennis Shryack had already penned the Norris films "Code of Silence" and "Hero and the Terror".
Charles Martin Smith came on board as director in 1990 and recast the project with Peter Weller and Robert Hays. It was shot later that year in Malaysia and eventually released in 1993 at the very tail end of Cannon's existence.
Filming in June 1990, for Cannon Pictures' "50-50." In the action-adventure, Norris will try to oust a dictator and restore to power the "last democratic president" of the fictional country of Tengara. Peter Weller change a role which was originally scheduled for Chuck Norris.

Danny Rogan is retiring from competitive kick-boxing as Middleweight World Kick-boxing Champion to became a sports announcer. Binky Rodriguez and Ki-Moon, both of whom wanted their chance to challenge and defeat the champion, are angered by Danny's announcement.
Jimmy Rogan, Danny's kid brother, is determined to follow in his older brother's footsteps and became a kick-boxing champion. Blinky immediately challenges Jimmy to a fight to tempt Danny into fighting instead to save his younger brother form certain defeat. But Danny, when he can's talk Jimmy out of the match, agrees to train his brother for the fight with Blinky.
Max Sterling a sadistic fight promoter who controls Ki-Moon, is determined to get even with Danny Rogan for publicly humiliating him during a confrontation with the press. Sterling promotes illegal no-holds-barred fights, the competitors fighting to the death Sterling begins scheming to control the young Jimmy so that Danny is forced to rescue his brother from a certain death situation and fight his own Ki-Moon will be the victor.
Sterling's scheme is in fact successful, but the outcome falls short of his expectations. Danny, Jimmy and Blinky join forces to defeat Ki-Moon and Sterling's armed henchmen and expose Sterling as the sadistic crook he is.
